Summary | 0001928: [UI Consistency] Navigation Tabs on Entry-Specific subpages should persist
Description | The anime votes page (show=votes) and perhaps other entry-specific subpages do not maintain the tabs at the top to readily access the other parts of the entry. Instead, a tiny "Back" button is buried at the bottom of the page. This UI inconsistency is frustrating. For subpages that are not entry-specific, this behavior makes some sense; however, for those subpages that are entry-specific this behavior is counter-intuitive. Further, the "Customize" tab is semi-entry-specific. All entry pages have a "Customize" tab, yet that subpage does not show the standard tabs, but instead has a "Return to Entry" tab. If "Customize" is deemed entry-specific to list among the standard entry-specific tabs, the entry-specific tabs should be shown on the subpage as well. However, if a subpage cannot be customized (yet), hiding this tab on those pages makes sense. All the other tabs already persist the entry-specific tabs, so why the inconsistent UI?
Steps To Reproduce | Load entry-specific subpage: 1. Browse to an anime entry page 2. Note the tabs at the top of the entry ("Entry", "Edit", "History", ...) 3. Click the rating to see the vote subpage 4. Observe page is entry specific given title 5. Observe no tabs at the top of the page Return to entry: 6a. Scroll to bottom of page 7a. Find "Back" button 8a. Click "Back" button, hoping that does what you want 6b. Click browser's back button until you get back to where you started 6c. Start a search and try to return to the original entry (multiple page loads just to go back) 6d. Give up. However, if the subpage browsed in Step 3 is a tab: 6e. Click any tab to go directly to that section... including the standard "Entry"
Additional Information | Recommend: * Persist tabs at the top of all entry-specific subpages, including "Customize" and Optionally: * Add all entry-specific subpages as tabs * Provide an option to toggle display of various tabs (however, shown tabs should always persist even if current subpage is a hidden tab) Lastly, while this is filed a feature request, as I've gotten used the workarounds, this is likely detrimental for new users or users who are "technologically challenged"...

i really dislike these sort of requests as it basically reads "do stuff". it's highly unspecific and wiggles. there are various reasons for not all sub pages to have a tabbing pane, 1 being that it's a giant pain in my ass. another one that we would very fast run out of horizontal space. another one being that some pages are overlap from 2 different entries like "animegroup". eitherway i added some tabs to the votes pages. if there is demand for tabs to other sections i prefer to know which exact ones. "all sub pages" is way too broad. |
