Summary | 0002038: Hidden elements in userpage not actually hidden to other users.
Description | Thank you for all the work you put into AniDB. Hidden elements in the userpage are only hidden to the user who owns that userpage. Anonymous visitors to the userpage see all hidden elements of the userpage. For instance, allowing anyone to view my userpage but checking Profile?Base_Entries?Userpage?"Hide the clubs section" makes it look like the clubs section is hidden because I can no longer see my "clubs" section since I'm logged in, but once I log out and go to my userpage, I can clearly see all the dirty lolicon clubs I'm in >^,^< (I join clubs to participate in them, not to broadcast my involvement in them to everyone who looks at my userpage). *I believe this to be a bug,* but if it is in fact intended to work this way, then: A) Please consider changing this as IMO it's a poor design choice, or B) Please clarify this intended behaviour in your web manual because it is very misleading as it stands: At http://goo.gl/9ELNQt : "see my userpage Makes your userpage visible to the selected parties." At http://goo.gl/aLhFny : "Userpage Disable or hide various sections of your userpage." I really appreciate all the work you put into this site. Thank you for providing such an awesome service!
Steps To Reproduce | While logged in, enable anonymous access to your userpage: Profile ? Permissions ? "see my userpage" ? "everyone" Then disable the clubs, favourites, or any userpage section: Profile ? Base Entries ? Userpage ? "Hide the clubs section" Profile ? Base Entries ? Userpage ? "Hide the favourites section" Finally, log out and go back to your userpage. You will notice that the clubs section and the favourites section are both still clearly visible to anonymous users.
Additional Information | I have not tried viewing my userpage as another logged-in user because I only have one account.

On second thought, "Platform" probably means "Google Chromium", not "x86 architecture", sorry d= |

This is not a bug. The "Baseentries" tab only changes the way _YOU_ see AniDB. For anything you want to hide the "Permissions" tab in the profile is used. We currently offer no way which parts of the userpage is visible to other users, except hiding it completely and at least hiding your hentai-based achievements/badges. We might think about adding more permission settings to hide specific bits but don't hold your breath. |
