Summary | 0002245: Add merging functions to the forum
Description | I'd like to request thread merging and post merging capabilities. Thread merging as I see it: moves *all* posts from slave (current) thread to master (another existing) thread, and then deletes the thread entirely (optionally permanently, default should be off). Currently, the best you can do is split all posts but one into an existing thread, manually move the remaining post, and delete (not permanently) the now empty thread, which can be a drag to do manually. Post merging as I see it: copies/moves the content of all merged posts to a single post (the latest one by default), deletes all others. Especially useful to deal with severe multiposting. Must be restricted to single user across all posts. May or may not be restricted to single thread as well. Currently, this must be done by hand, which is AMAZINGLY ANNOYING to do. Multiple posts separated by a time frame under a specific default value (say, 24 hours) should be automatically merged. A [hr] tag could be used to separate the contents of the posts. They should be combined in age order, so that older posts always go first in content.
