Summary | 0001668: New fileversions make all previous files of the same group/episode/source "old"
Description | If a group releases different resolutions from the same source type, e.g. 720p and 1080p which is fairly common these days, the system does not differentiate between them properly. If a v2 is released for only one of the resolutions, both v1 files are mrked as "old." Example http://anidb.net/a6080 - SFW's Blu-ray release of Queen's Blade episode 1
Additional Information | This might be an "interface" issue instead of "database." A simple solution seems to be to make resolution count for automatic marking of old files. An additional feature could be to allow users to CREQ old files, if such is wanted for shows released in 4:3 and rereleased in widescreen later (SS-Eclipse's Clannad, for instance).

"An additional feature could be to allow users to CREQ old files, if such is wanted for shows released in 4:3 and rereleased in widescreen later (SS-Eclipse's Clannad, for instance)." eh... WHAT? i have not even remotely an idea of what you tried to say there |

@DerIdiot Old (deprecated) files are currently automarked by the system, but only in cases where groups specifically release a v2. If it is wanted, there could be an option in "file edit" to manually mark files old. In a show like Clannad (http://anidb.net/a5101), SS-Eclipse released a 4:3 version as it aired, then WS version later on with the full image (as well as minor fixes, I guess). In this case, the WS is not named v2 by the group, but it is essentially the same as a v2. There is really no reason why anyone should get the (old) cut 4:3 release over the WS. This was just a small proposal related to this bug, however. I'd be happy to make a forum thread for discussion or seperate tracker item for it if you want me to. |
