Summary | 0001829: Credit Blocks
Description | We need an effective method of representing and displaying certain blocks within the main body of credits. These blocks usually indicate some general area of work such as 3DCG or part of the animation. The current method is to add comments such as digital animation unit in http://anidb.net/a61, but this is messy as it scatters the credits and further annotation is required if they are duplicated - examples being OP credits in http://anidb.net/a7013 and Tachikoma Animation Unit in the Stand Alone Complex series. One method to fix this is to define special credit blocks which group credits within according to existing credit orders, a basic example being http://saber.kawaii-shoujo.net/~arcturo/eoe.htm. This would essentially require these blocks to be created and selected when adding staff. Order might be defined per block in the same way as special credits. As for displaying these credits on the creator pages, the credit column could be split further into rowspans or some other scheme could be used, e.g. "Tachikoma Unit - Key Animation".

http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=cmt&id=20463 <-- related I'd just like to add, that we might as well also have the ability to manually order the credits per anime. I was against it before, but as long as one can only order certain parts without the need to order everything, it can be really useful. E.g. in cases like arcturo and trickzter pointed out, and also in cases to move the by default major credits to minor credits section if they're given like that in the video. |
|
Here's the concept: * define a "block" to be a context under which credits are added * a block has a parent credit which it is ordered relative to * blocks are defined on a per-anime basis * credits are then (block, creator, credit type, episode range), with a default block if none is selected * ordering within a block proceeds according to existing credit ordering * blocks may contain major or minor credits and are displayed without a separator between the two * while creator/credit type is currently unique, creator/credit type/block must now be unique |
