Summary0000208: better grouplist in "add/edit anime" dialog
Descriptionthe way groups get added to files worked with a couple hundred groups, but we have now almost 2200 groups and it's constantly growing, which makes it first tiresome to find the correct group and second it takes ages for the "add/edit anime" dialog to load. thats especially painful when you are doing massedits. besides the waste of bw. it's not neccessary to load the whole list everytime i want to edit something of the file.

i propose to remove the complete grouplist from that page and replace it with some searchfield for the group. you enter the groupname hit "find group" and some popup displays the found results in the grouplist. select one and the correct group gets set in the "add/edit anime" dialog. it's kinda identical to the way phpbb's usermanagement works in the admin panel.
complete manual entry without hitting the "find group" shouldn't get allowed to prevent mistakes.

the "by relation:" dialog can stay though. it mostly short and useful, which the other 2 lists aren't.

Agreed.

I think for clarification DerIdiot means "add/edit anime" -> "add/edit file" dialogue.

sounds like a good idea.
question is, do we use a popup and javascript which would be easier, or do we keep non-js compatibility and reload the entire page, displaying the results of the search operation in-line. as this would be a required step when adding a file i don't think we should rely on js.

I think that the non-JS policy should be drop soon.

1. It brings more load to the server.
2. It makes some features hard to implement.

You can do both, of course.
