| Summary | 0003054: CREQ: "Request Assistance - Mod" button for CREQ Handlers | ||||
| Description | Create a new button for creq handlers + mods (but not maintainers) called "Request Assistance - Mod". It's the same thing as regular request assistance, only it sends a mod message instead. To be used sparingly. Message subject: [Important] Your assistance was requested! (9126687 - chartb) Message contents: "Important: CDB-Man requested your assistance with this creq (chartb). Please respond to the inquiry within the change request ticket." Similar to how granting deletes will give a dialogue box warning message, this should also give a dialogue warning with something like this: "Warning: this will send the user a Mod PM, are you sure you want to do this?" | ||||

From #mod: <CDB-Away> for mods it makes it easier what we can already do <CDB-Away> for creq handlers it would be a new feature and relieves some frustration <Hinoe> yeah it must be pretty annoying to have to send an angry mod pm when you're already spamming someone with requests <Hinoe> sometimes I wish I could send mod pms to some people who insist in not showing up despite obviously being around <CDB-Away> which is precisely what this is for <deriDIOt> will not happen <deriDIOt> mod pm are precisely that by mods <Hinoe> you could just implement that feature for mods though <CDB-Away> can it at least happen for mods then <Hinoe> I'm _sure_ it would be useful to deal with some specific people |

Note: this will not give non-mods to send general Mod PMs. All I'm suggesting, is to only allow creq handlers to send a request assistance that's coded as a mod PM in the inbox instead of a regular PM. |

mod pm were implemented as a _last measure_ instead of outright banning someone whioch is what we did before. ban and wait for them to pop up on irc. using this feature for stuff like creqs just causes an exponential usage of it. all you cause with that is apathy. people get pissed off already when they are forced to read their pm ina timely fashion in a 2 week timeframe. forcing them all the time to instantly reply for creqs will just create apathy or worse people quitting using anidb alltogether. throwing nukes at every cockroach is not a useful approach for resolving your insect problem. the underlying issue is known and i have better solutions for it, but for a lack of execution them they haven't been done. |
