Summary | 0000471: Add an Original/first Air Time field to series entries
Description | During the kicking-exp-to fix-dates and ongoing post-midnight problems, there's been suggestion to actually make the ep airing field datetimes (there are several good resources for these). However that'd mean him having to like, read the postgresql docs or something.
Additional Information | http://www.anidb.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5308 exp: ---- seems like a pretty bad idea, after all the pilot/first ep might well be in a different timeslot. if we'd really want that info in such a detailed way, a second field for the time would be better. and about the postgres part, the current way I handle dates allows for times to be included already, no need to read docs :P

schedule should take care of this no? |

I think rar was thinking about the japanese hours vs sensible hours difference as in 26:00 = 02:00. Meaning the dates would be different. Here's how I'd see it happening, we require the original Japanese airing date AND time to be inserted, so when the user would insert 14.06.2008 (24:30), an additional date would also be generated which would be 15.06.2008 (00:30) aka the sensible time. At one point it'd take care of the conversion problems, on the other hand this kind of a sudden change may confuse the users. For example they may add the wrong date but the correct time, thus making the actual time 2 days ahead of original. Don't know if that's what rar had in mind, maybe he didn't want to convert the original time to sensible time. What's this talk about postgres? We already are displaying times of object additions, but that was probably some other technical mumbo-jumbo. After reading the entire forum post, I must add... keep timeslots away from categories... they indicate nohting, as I've been oh so gracefully taught by rar and DerIdiot, shounen anime can easily air past midnight. |
