Summary | 0000712: Redefine output of ANIME command for acode bits 23 and 25
Description | We can distinguish the following classes of anime titles (names): Romaji name Kanji name (official Japanese name) English name Other official names Synonym names Short names This already happens at the web-pages of anidb. According to exp (forum topic) something might have become broken with respect to UDP protocol. It would be nice to have the possibility to retrieve the values for these classes of titles through UDP protocol. The first three and short names is already present (short names not tested, may be also broken now?). As for the rest, what I propose: 1. Attach to bit 23 (now "other name"?) the list of other official names. 2. Leave bit 24 as it is, short name list 3. Attach to bit 25 (again, as it doesn't work now) the list of synonyms, so unofficial names 4. Truncated first, if needed, the official names. The reason for this is that by far any given anime, in general, doesn't get an official name for some country but does get a synonym title for that country's language.

Just after I finished typing the main body of this f.r. I saw another proposal on the Wiki pages, the one with the "lang" tag. This would also be nice, it is essentially what I have written down but more selective wrt languages. I would certainly be happy with that solution too. |
