Summary | 0000098: Ampersand (&) in CReqs
Description | I copy-pasted a link from Firefox' URL toolbar as a comment to a moderator for a CReq, but the ampersand (&) didn't come out right. Another symbol appeared instead, and had to be changed manually... Ampersand appears correctly in messages sent to users though...

what other symbol? |
hmmm it really looked like a Thai character. :) kinda like a curved L with a dot.... doesn't really help, eh? Is the font defined in a different way in the CReq? |
can someone verify this? |
http://img209.exs.cx/img209/2528/ampersand4rl.jpg it's the same sign but it looks a bit weird though, not really a bug. |
what exactly is that screenshot supposed to show? |
what the guy means lol behind the word anime it's the symbol he meant |
Ok I'll be back with screenshots (and the weird symbol) |
http://img78.exs.cx/img78/9149/anidbcreq1mf.jpg After the word img91 there's the weird symbol It happens if I copy-paste the following link (http://img78.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img78&image=anidbcreq1mf.jpg ) from imageshack.us into the CReq |
reading back your comments, I just realized you think I'm a guy... woohoo (me is a linuxchix) |
which browser are you using and what's the language of your os and browser? this issue is probably client related and not an anidb bug. |
Sorry exp, I confirm this, XP SP1, jap locale, english IME. The '&image' in imageshack links gets converted by the anidb message system to ℑ - try sending me this link: http://img78.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img78&image=anidbcreq1mf.jpg Via message, either subject or body, then look at in in your sent box. Rar |
hey Rar how about you send such a link to a mod trough that thing... and so that the mod can test if it works or not (the link that is) |
just checked. here is the html code generated by anidb. <tr> <td valign="top"> Body: </td> <td valign="top"> test msg http://img78.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img78&image=anidbcreq1mf.jpg </td> </tr> the problem is the browser which displays the link. anidb does not do any strange replacements. however, i guess it might be a good idea to encode & as & |
Oh, the issue wasn't that anidb changed the string somehow, but rather that by not escaping & < and > all sorts of interesting errors can occur. I'd have thought that your (opera?) had the same behaviour as firefox on this front, but perhaps not. At any rate, a one-time: & to & < to < > to > when a message is sent should prevent any of these weird errors again. |
